Questionnaire Results
We asked 60 people to fill out our questionnaire to help us decide what sort of horror we were going to go with. The results from the majority of people have showed that slasher is the most popular option and that horror films with blood and gore in them are the most prefered. Therefore, our opening title sequence is going to be slasher.
Another question we asked was out of 5 killers, who did you find the scariest, and the results came back with the girl being the most frightening. The girl was possessed, which was what gave us the idea to have a female killer. Having a female as the most important and dangerous character is appealing to male audiences. This suggests that the other killers were not as popular options because they don't appeal to the audience. Therefore, a female killer is the option we chose to go with for our opening title sequence as it was popular and unique for horror films to have a female as the possessed and dangerous villain. By doing something different, rather than the stereotypical girl victim, we will have a wider audience and appeal to horror fans.
The 6th question we asked again helped us to decide on doing a slasher. We asked which cause of death they found the most disturbing and frightening. The two deaths that proved to be the most and equally popular were with a chainsaw and with a knife. Both of these deaths involve blood and gore, which supports the popular sub-genre of slasher. The other option was strangling, which was less preferred, which made us decide that using blood in our film would be the most effective and exciting. Quieter and less screamish ways of dying seemed to come across as not as engaging for the audience. Our aim is to make our opening title sequence as thrilling and screamish as possible, which is why using lots of blood and gore is what we decided to go with.
